Weymoor Bridge Culvert & Spill Weir

Weymoor Bridge Stream Culvert

Some time after canal abandonment, adjacent to Weymoor Bridge a channel was cut across the canal for a stream.

In 2024 the first phase of constructing a new culvert to take the stream under the canal was completed. In order for this work to be carried out, the stream had to be diverted.

The second phase of work, which is expected to be completed in 2025, will remove the diversion, extend the channel walls above the culvert, rebuild the towpath and reinstate the canal banks.

Weymoor Bridge Spill Weir

One hundred metres or so east from the bridge are the remains of a spill weir that would have allowed excess water in the canal to flow out into a branch of the River Churn. which is close by.
