Site of Wallbridge Basin
Wallbridge Basin marked the terminus of the Stroudwater Navigation in Stroud. The basin has long since been infilled, however the route of the canal survived.
The point at which the Stroudwater entered the basin also marked the start of the Thames & Severn Canal, which is in effect a continuation of the waterway, although they were originally operated by two separate companies.
Stroud Sewer Obstruction
Worth noting that in the photo above, and in the header photo, there are a series of markers in the channel. The furtherest ones mark the point where a main Stroud sewer crosses the canal.
This was constructed after the canal was abandoned (for navigation purposes) and is only about 600mm or so below the surface. At the moment this poses an obstruction to navigation for most vessels.
It is understood that this sewer is to be re-routed at some point, so this obstruction should be removed.
