Ham Mill Lock, Thrupp

The restoration of Ham Mill Lock was completed in about a year with the work largely being undertaken by CCT volunteers working 3 days a week.

Ham Mill Lock is the fifth lock on the Thames & Severn Canal and on that section between Wallbridge and the interchange facilities at Brimscombe Port built to accommodate Severn trows rather than Thames barges. It is thus a little over 16 feet wide and 68 feet long with a rise of 9 feet.

The chamber is brick-lined and topped with a substantial stone coping. There are stone quoins to the recesses for the gates.
