Cotswold Canals in Pictures

Brimscombe Port

The port was the headquarters of the Thames & Severn Canal Company, and the site incorporated a 700 ft (213m) long canal basin which has long since been infilled. Most of the former port, which was redeveloped in the 1960s into a light industrial area, has since been acquired by Stroud District Council.

Rush Skate Park
A delay in the redevelopment of the Port presented opportunities for local businesses.  One of these was Rush Skate Park which occupied a former factory building. This was a fantastic 40,000 square foot indoor facility for those with scooters, skateboards, roller blades and BMX bikes. Unfortunately, this was forced to close in August 2021 to allow the redevelopment of the port to commence.

Listed Buildings
Port Mill, the salt warehouse and a length of the Port's boundary wall alongside the River Frome are all Grade II listed.
